Studio Time

The past few weeks have disapeared beneath me. I feel as though I'm living on time I've borrowed from someone else, and that time too, is disapearing quickly. I'm running to keep up with the occasions and bookings and usual activities. I have more time than I can ever recall, but I wonder if even that time is enough. There are dresses to be made, more flowers to be found, headpieces to be assembled, blog posts to be written, emails to be responded to, outfits to be chosen, makeup to be picked, hair to be pre-washed, shoes to be set aside, and concepts to be thought up.

I spend a few days a week working in a customer service based environment. I like it because it keeps me always excited for my return back to my creative space where I can retreat into my infinite pile of creative to-dos. Last week I had more than 1 chance at studio time. Both experiences were absolutely fabulous. I remember by the end of the winter season last year I was terribly board with studio work, and super excited for the outside okanagan weather. This year I know I ll feel different. I'm talking big commercial studio spaces, with big backdrops, big lights, big shades, and props. I pick the perfect playlist for the environment/atmosphere, and the shoot begins. Time flies when you're focused. One thing I am thinking of doing on a personal model note, is bringing along a standup mirror for posing reference. I find that without a point of reference of what the angle is and the viewpoint, I find myself wanting to see whats going behind the camera. From my experience, not all photographers like to share their work as a point of reference. They don't see it like that. If I bring my own mirror I will not have to wonder what it looks like behind the camera so much. I will have an understanding of the pose, in general, and I will then be able to build off it/from it.

Future shootings include work featuring local makeup artists, as well as local seafood! Keep an eye out for a project that I am particularly excited about involved a crazy under water creature. We plan to shoot late february. I am approximately half way done my newest dress "The Janet", which I hope to shoot shortly after its completion. The second shoot between myself and Kevin Stenhouse has been scheduled. PERM NEXT MONDAY. you read it. I will be modelling for a stylist who will be performing a perm on me next monday. Get ready for the "after" Photos!
