As my first full month in Calgary comes to a close, I have looked back and had a small reflection on my jam-packed first month. As the world transitions from January to February I beckon a small break in my personal ongoings and activities just to breath and relax. My thoughtful S/O (who goes to Arizona for a short vacation every year), bought me a ticket for Christmas so that I can tag along beside him. The timing could not be better. Michael has been working regular fulltime, and our schedules are more opposite than ever, possibly. I have not looked forward to vacation time this much since I can remember. Even just the time with Michael would have been enough, but a flight to Arizona for a short break in what seems like an endless winter must be exactly what the doctor ordered.

January, in the lookback, was crazy packed. When I wasn't giving out fabulous customer service at my customer service based work place, I could most likely be found at starbucks (photographer meetings). If you looked at starbucks and couldn't find me, I was probably in the studio, shooting one of the many concepts from my concept book, or perhaps client idea. I was blessed to be approached by an amazing bunch of fabulous clients that also had creative minds flowing with concepts and ideas they cared to share with me. I was not able to book in all the photographers I had the honor of meeting this first month.I had coffee meetings with photographers that specialize in outdoor concepts. Although I feel like most of my outdoor work will have to wait until the summer month, its great to know that the projects and creative minds are available and ready to make it happen.

Edit by me

January was a superb month for client concepts. The client work I was able to do in the past month has inspired me to create a business platform that allows me to flow more freely in client work. I have also had the time to realize that there needs to continue to be balance between client work and creative projects. I have had impulse moments of creation which have ended in the beginning of a possible line of headpieces. Two headpieces have successfully been created this month. On the creative side, my hope is that these pieces will be up and advertised within the month and on my website.

Maybe one of my biggest January learning curves was learning the parking system. I felt so completely lost my first few days here as I drove the streets to find 2 hour parking signs on the street, with tow warnings sticking out the other side. Two signs, right beside it each other, making it difficult to understand which sign to followed. Usually when I see tow warnings, I try to park clear of them. They seem to be everywhere in this city though. I can happily say now, that I have a better understanding for the parking system here, in general. I'm less reluctant to travel to the downtown core in fear of parking. I've done it on several occasions and am becoming quite accustomed.

February brings me great excitement as I look over my calendar and discover a few projects in genres I have never done before! I am so keen on new genres! I figure new perm, lets do it! Keep your eyes peeled for a few "out-of-the-ordinary" looking projects, with far out style and posework. I will not be advertising my time in Arizona for client/model jobs. I will be using the 7 day getaway as a time of replenishment and divided time with my best friend Michael :)
