August & Other Adjustments

I can't believe its already time to throw the July Calendar in the storage folder. I find the transition between month to month to be so quick I feel I almost miss it. The days topple over one another and I strive to do the most important and most essential things for my career that day. I go to bed with a list beside my bed, either paper or mental, reminding me of all that has not yet been done. The list is not meant to daunt, its meant to help me stay focused. The list reminds me what my priorities are: what my needs are above and beyond my wants and goals. My goals come second, and my wants come third.

August looks very fresh and clear to me, as I had an abrupt perspective change about 2 weeks into July. I was blessed to have perhaps my busiest month for modelling so far in Calgary (last month), but the wave of business awakened me to a sea of opportunities that jolted me to reflection. Throughout the month of figure model contracts and a 14 shoot total count by the end of the month, I felt silent and somber; Unsure if what I really want to emote is being properly projected into my photos and expression.

I have spent more time shaping my goals and desires lately. I have spent more time thinking about what I want and I have spent more time envisioning myself having it. These thoughts have pushed me to a phase where I want to do things differently. I am excited for another month of experimentation from an entrepreneurial standpoint. Being accountable for my own income, on my own time, in my own space, has given me a liberty outside of any expectation I might have had for it. There is no feeling that compares to showing up when I know I am supposed to, and leaving when I know I am done... being the only one there, the only one responsible: accountable for showing up when I saw I will, usually even 10 minutes before.

I am blessed to have been able to use modelling as my craft of choice while I learn about accumulating income not only for yourself, but for others in the industry as well. I feel a lot of contentment when I think about helping to bring more value into the artistic world. Getting to this place of realization has brought me to the understanding that I have the business minded attitude and ethic necessary not only for this industry, but possibly for other industries as well. This idea fills me with thoughts about my fashions & modelling services, and how I can extend them outwardly towards other businesses and individuals.

I am in love with the journey of building a label for myself and what I stand for. I don't know what I would rather spend my time doing.

A few things to look forward to from the month of August are:

NEW NAMES! yes, you will be seeing more new work from me and some of my favorite collaborators ( Steve Osmond, Kevin Cripps, etc) . You will also being seeing new work from some absolutely outrageously talented artists here in Calgary whom I have not yet worked with! Keep your eye out for a set I am especially excited for with Kevin Jordan.

Today I am posing at U of C from 9-3 . I have a few weeks left on this contract. Then new work awaits!

I am so blessed to do what I love.
