September Activity Update

September is here and brought forth gifts with its arrival. For me, mostly gifts of ponder; thoughts of reflection on the month of August. Thoughts of anticipation towards the new month, new goals, new concepts, new ideas. One pre-existing plan that will be following me throughout all of September (hopefully) is my current plan to partake in a fabulous fashion show on Oct. 21. I plan to launch 6-8 Avante Garde pieces. Right off the bat I had 4 suitable pieces. I liked the way they flow together, the colors, the patterns, the designs. I used these 4 pieces to plan my remaining designs. Since then I've finished more pieces and am looking towards the show with zero anxiety ATM. The model list has been made and let me tell you, I had no idea how much of an asset it would be intertwined into the model world. My pick list right now sits at 2 red heads, 4 blondes, and 2 black haired womans. Yes I said womans. These ladies are absolutely amazing and my tops picks from all of my networking over the past year. I am excited to spend the next few weeks getting them fitted into the pieces and seeing what looks best on who.

At present I feel like I'm still sifting through my emails trying to address clients and projects. Towards the end of August I felt an increase and transition in my business and have been dedicating as much time possible to tuning into that transition and understanding the rights steps to be taken based on the increase in traffic/clients. At this very second I'm feeling slightly distracted as a notification popped up in my bottom right corner telling me there are photos for download on dropbox from Jen Freedman Photography. About half way through august I got together with Jen and Chantal for a shoot/concept I had been conspiring earlier in the summer. I knew Chantal was perfect for the part, and I knew Jen was perfect as shooter. It's so fun when a vision comes together so clearly in my mind. I literally just have to reach out to the people in my vision and confirm their interest in my vision. Lucky for me in this case, both parties were keen. These are good distractions.

Looking into projects for September I am still very hopeful for a long and warm Indian summer. Lots of my concepts are more design focused as I have a project coming up based primarily around my designs. I have been taking a leap to shoot more designs (outside of client work) instead of mixing and matching my designs with my pre-existing wardrobes, I am working to make complete sets. Its fun to create looks that are bigger and more than just a dress or a top. I find I have to access a deeper creative space as I search to build and create more. I don't mind doing that. I love my creative space.

My schedule for art nude work has continued to increase since my arrival here which has caused constant reflection/growth. I am currently noticing how important location can be in the case of an art nude photo, and am putting a greater emphasis on that. Septembers art nude projects thus far will be introducing several new and intrequite locations to my portfolio. I also have been doing some work on pose technique, as well as some ponder about different types of artistic nude work, including semi nudes which can allow for my designs to be present.

This weekend I'll be modelling a workshop at Swintons. They closed for the summer, and I missed the artistic festivities. I'm excited to be back in the lively classroom and surrounded by motivated and inspired artistic individuals.
