I watched the film Maleficent last night before bed. Have you seen it?
I was captivated from the opening scene to the final credit as it rolled past the top of the screen and the screen sit blank and black. From the elaborate hair and makeup to the amazingly creative set of black wings that rest on Maleficent's back and drape beyond her toes. I found the entire film completely inspiring and engaging.
The past for or five days I've felt as though my mind has been blown unceasingly. It seems that everywhere I look I see independent monopolies being built. What I once saw as unity I now see as individuality combined. Some people are collaborating and intentionally building relationships and partnerships with like-minded forces and energies, whilst others forge and build in a completely singular fashion. Dolly Parton was in town last week. Did you know? That blew my mind. That woman has created an absolute kingdom all of her own. 70 years old and still doing what she loves. That's my dream.
I flicked on the netflix documentaries to see Russel Peters smothering the homepage. Remember when he was just a comedian? Me either. The first I saw of him was on netflix where his series allowed me access to the comedies I would've otherwise never known. This makes me think more about options, publicity, and advertising opportunities.
It seems as though these people evolve, their individual worlds and ideals evolve as well. They start out as a rougher being, but they start anyways. They have a rough understanding of what they want and who they want to be (but the understanding exists nonetheless). They commit to the building on those desires and ambitions and their dedication solidifies said desires. The desire grows and expands and the individual's commitment and faith to that desire blossoms into infinite variations and configurations of that very thing, because of the depth of their passion, and because of the truth and sincerity of their desire as a physical reality.
It's beautiful really, to think and hear of some of the amazing opportunities that passion-seekers have been able to find for themselves. I love to look to the world of animation for inspiration. I find my source for inspiration doesn't need to contain facts, or even truths, but instead contain elements of emotion and liberation that can help to access bigger and more fearless thoughts.
This week becomes more jam packed by the day. To process and keep everything on an even keel, I break things down by the day and do things 1 after the other, according to priority ranking. Today started out with a few hours in the design studio, both gathering wardrobe for today's concepts, as well as finishing up pieces that had been started last week. At 10 I will do an orientation for an event I am promoting over the weekend. By 12 I will have started hair and makeup for this afternoons shoot with a brand new client. By 4 30 I will be on my way to my next project, which has been in the planning for a few weeks. This plan is somewhat dependent on the weather, and today, we kind of sit at its mercy. All I can really do is hope for the best.
