I am so so so thrilled and relieved to have spent a bit of yesterday afternoon with my truly inspiring friend Danielle. It'd been a minute since our last shoot and hang out. I missed her inspiring vibes. Looking back on this set the sun is very misleading as it looks like a glimmering warm day when really the thermostat sat at 1 for the majority of our time outside. There is so much commercial content from this set that I've decided to break the set down into 3, or maybe even 4 blogs so that I can breakdown the pieces and give them the time and detail they deserve.
I've never shot in the NE before. I wasn't hard done by to do it at all. I quite like the thrilling vibe of not knowing whats up. Being in the NE makes me feel like I'm living on the wild side. I also felt a little like a tourist. So unfamiliar with that entire side of the city. So curious.
For hair I was inspired by my mom who has been on my thoughts a lot lately. I don't talk about her often but she holds a very big space in my heart. A constant source of inspiration to me. She used to have the most beautiful long hair that she would curl, and part in the middle, and comb down 1/3 of the way from the top-down. This look is timeless to me. I am so excited to continue to grow out my locks as I reevaluate all the possibilities for styling that come with length.
The pieces showcased in this set are all brand new, all one of a kind, and all made in my comfy, cozy, warm and inspiring sewing studio. This set features a magenta polyester/velvet stretch high-waisted legging, a black loose hanging frock, a polyester multi-pattern bra top,a black & gold harness, and a couture made-to-fit tailored winter jacket of striped fabric.
The more I make, the more I learn how vivid and emotional that outward expression can be and be seen through the pieces and clothing I create. I knew there was an unspoken language of clothing but I had no idea how strong that silent voice could be. As the collection grows and on-lookers gain a bigger understanding of my sewing capabilities, I am approached with more and more requests for dream pieces for my clients so that they too can feel more at home and themselves in what they wear.
Last month was the beginning of my build up of public figures in my designs. This month I look forward to seeing some of that work as it is photographed. I've been building and visualizing on my dream of sewing and creating couture custom pieces for public figures. It's been a beautiful month full of periods of resignation towards current opportunities as well as opportunities for the future. I find this reflection time really important as it helps me stay focused and motivated. If I don't know what I want how can I expect to receive it? If I can't dream about the good and beautiful times, how can I expect them to exist?
Danielle is so efficient that we finished our plentiful set with talk time. I love talks with Danielle because she keeps it real with me. We can have real conversations and give each other real answers. The same way we can work together in a carefree manner as we trust each other entirely to do what we tell the world we do. It is so relaxing for me to just be a model for Danielle. No worries on focus, or movement, Danielle's perspective blows my expectations out of the water time and time again. I will forever love her for her beaming authenticity. I am blessed to have found her in this great big city.
