Day 4 in Kelowna and already the snow is starting to melt and disappear. I look to January with optimism and a positive spirit. Hoping for warmth. Hoping for sun. So used to the fluidity and momentum of my old schedule, settling in and relaxing through the holiday season has been an experience all on its own. Just a few days into my time here, I can already feel things picking up and starting to flow again. I find it highly satisfying to have contracts ready and to be set up so quickly. As early as a year ago I assumed that it was necessary to allow 2 weeks - 1 month for settle in time when moving around. Realistically, considering I will be here for just 4 months before returning to Calgary, 1 month would be way to long as settle time. We d practically be packing up again by the time I got settled at that rate. 1 thing that has really helped to calm my mind and bring me peace in the midst of a potentially chaotic time is knowing I already have connections and relationships here to reconnect with and followup on.
In a lot of ways its been really interesting and timeless being back. Mike found us a place just blocks away from Blenz, where I used to work. I started off my return by spending a few hours in the mornings there. It was amazing to see the regulars dedicated to their connection with the establishment. It's comforting to have things to relate to. I love the idea that I know the main streets and roads. I know where things are and I know how to get to them. I feel like I have an advantage here as opposed to my past year in Calgary where I had to learn from scratch, the feel of the city and how to get anywhere that I needed to be. Going back in the summer 2017 (in Calgary!) I anticipate to feel ready to get back into business straight away.
I've received more images fresh & new from the talented Curt Pitter of Sleepy Mongrel Photography. I look forward to his file updates and can't wait for the jpegs to come. All photos in this post are credit to him. Hair and makeup for this set are credit to Glam & Beyond. Design by me <3
