Barely into the third week of February and already the snow has basically completely melted. We've entered into positive digits. The average over the past week has been about 2 to 4 degrees. It's amazing to note the warmer weather as it opens up many pathways and opportunities both creatively and from a business perspective. Being in Calgary last winter I was able to speculate and progressively work through the winter season with fluidity. This year being back in BC and a significantly smaller city, I have accepted specific contracts and have focused quite immensely on studying the fashion environment in this space from a creative and business standpoint.
My observations through travel and work have brought me to the conclusion that Kelowna is not used to having the volume of snow it sustained this winter. These "out-of-the-ordinary" circumstances most definitely impacted the fashion/art industry creatively, if not on a business level as well. Cars were unable to get out of parking spaces because snow plows clear road snow to the side where the cars are parked.; Parking tickets placed neatly over 2 inches of fresh snow on the dash of vehicles that couldn't get closer to the curb due to the conditions. Clearly we should all know where we live and there is no empathy here. I don't know what it is about Kelowna, but I've watched the parking tolls come into effect since 2013. When I first moved to Kelowna there was no meter/pay parking at all in the pandosy area! SINCE then, I've watched the pay parking idea grow and expand, causing problems for many with no apologies or compensation for business revenue losses, etc. So anyways, back to the point. Many people did not drive for the week-two week interval of the excessive snowing. I myself was fortunate to get rides to and from my different contracts from Michael, who owns and big and tall suburban.

Looking forward I've got a new figure modelling job coming up. I'm excited to be modelling at he new moon Gallery in West Kelowna. I've modelled at several different places in central kelowna, and even Vernon already in my time back, but West Kelowna is a place I have not before ventured in the name of art. I am excited and happy to be able to merge into a new environment once again.

I'm in reminisces mode because Meagan and I will be shooting again in just a few weeks! I love the soft and air feel of this shoot. Our next project should be more dark and edgy.

If you are wondering why I named the blog post shorted : I did that because February is only filled with 28 days, instead of the standard and comfortable 30-31. This lack of days in a month leaves me feeling a little bit shorted. Thank goodness March is nice and plump with a full 31 day calendar.
