I'm on the balcony watching the storm roll in. There is an abundance of beautiful purple flowers that have blossomed in the neighbors yard that I have perfect view of from where I sit. It's amazing how quickly inspiration can blossom. Flowers are so inspiring to me. I've had a draft of a previous blog on the go for days. I feel filled with emotions and words and insights, yet when I sit down to jot it out, sometimes it doesn't come.
I've got a new piece of equipment in the studio that has really improved production times and strategies. After a lot of much needed practice on a regular machine, I've upgraded to a serger which I find very exciting and intense all at the same time. Intense because of it's amazing power. I can explore fabrics and patterns I might have never thought of before. I've got more projects than I can count right now. I can't complain one bit. I am the happiest to be in the studio, sewing away, making things for people with visions and ideas.
Today has been an awesome activity filled morning of sewing, altering, and getting ready for an afternoon of figure modelling. I'm excited to be heading out to see and create for the rest of the day and into the evening. I'll be at the continuing education class at ACAD tonight, which will be awesome for any reasons but primarily because I haven't been there since last year. It's always nice to go back to a place you used to go for the first time. Some things change, some things don't - it's fun to be able to reflect on it all.
Tomorrow is filled with fittings for working models that work with stylists. I usually don't meet the girls in real life before the fitting, but I'm very familiar with their look and am aware of what kind of look I'll be creating for them. It's so fun to be able to cater to different looks and needs.
I'm excitedly awaiting an amazing set featuring 2 alternate models that were brave enough to wear bikinis in super cold and windy weather. Edit time is always kind of the space in between. Sometimes I like it because it builds anticipation and excitement towards the finished set.
The photo's I've posted today are special and a bit of a throwback. Model credit to Madison Cook and photograph credit to Lichon Photography <3 I named this piece of my costume collection "Floral Frippery" after Madison herself. This setting was completely and 100 % real.
