Well, happy Monday.
Honestly, I've always loved Monday's. I'm not 100% sure why. It could be that my schedule is flex. For years, I've made myself available when needed. I guess I don't really believe in the Monday-Friday routine for the most part. I prefer to do the art/ project when the time is right for all involved. Often the timing leaps outside of regular working hours. I find this schedule and process good for me as it helps me continue to think outside the box. I have no set business/ artist hours. I am open to opportunities and possibilities whenever they may arise. I love the flexibility of an ever changing schedule. It keeps me on my toes, and always grateful for current opportunities and projects. I incorporate great effort in trying to keep the focus of life artistic and fun. No matter what financial obligations I may have or where ever I may be.
This Monday I feel super alive. Right now I'm at the bean scene across from the landmark buildings where my class will be held at noon. This will be my first time with this specific class and teacher so I've come early to introduce myself and be prepared for the class. The first class always seems to cause me a little sweat under the brow. It's a positive type of nervous. I don't mind the feeling honestly. It reminds me of the type of feeling I get when I go on roller coasters. It's the feeling of the unexpected. It's funny how that works. Over the past half decade I've modeled for more art classes than I can count, yet still, these feelings exist. Perhaps it could be the contrast in work or the complete variety in location and teacher from class to class. Often the teachers like to give the students a variety of body types and shapes to work with. I can see why this is beneficial to the students and their learning process. The result of this system is that I often work with 1 class, 1 time. Looking at a longer timeline, and despite the constant changes, there are many classes and many students, giving me many opportunities to work with the classes.
This weekend I've been working on a few paintings on wood surfaces. I was inspired by some images and ideas online and I wanted to bring the visions to reality in my own home. I don't often paint so it feels a bit different, but very artistically therapeutic. Basic things like getting the lines straight and clear, shading, and color correction have been a few things I did not anticipate before the beginning of the project(s). These things, among others, have caused the projects to take longer than I have expected. In result, I've taken the pressure off and decided to make them into longer term projects.
Changes in my current schedule have led me to having more spare time during the week. This is exciting as it gives me a chance to focus on some shooting and conceptual work for a change. Warmer weather is helping the snow to melt and I anticipate that soon the ground will be dry once again. It's exciting to come into warmer weather. I have many plans for the warmer season and am feeling eager to be amidst it.
This morning I spent hours looking through folders of photos and honestly I was very shocked at the amount of work not featured on my IG. I think part of the reason for this is because I was not as active on my account before 2015 as I had facebook back then. I believe most of my work was featured on my facebook wall instead. Today I've shared a few favorites from a very very special shoot featuring Jessica Hoc (lichon Photography), Blue Sage Farms (Darquise), and Toby Weisenberg (Makeup) <3
