1/3rd way through the month and things are crazy busy. With 2-3 appointments/meetings/classes a day I find myself looking forward to more free time. Yesterday I had a few spare hours between work and a special dinner at my sisters so I whipped together a dress from a previous design I shot last season. I had worked with a certain product that made reshaping and adjusting seams effortless, and I came away with a really natural and earthy feeling spring/summer gown.
My friend Jess came over for some chill time this morning and we talked over concepts and ideas for the dress. She agreed on the spring feelings it projected and we excitedly conversed about our visions. Since it poured yesterday, I thought it may be a good day for a rock hunt. We headed out all bundled up but we didn't last as long as I thought we would. We had walked down by the water. I always forget it's extra windy that way. The lake was largely iced over and it sparkled as we walked along the shoreline. Jess and I have been pals for many years now. I'm so lucky to have connected with her those years ago. I don't think either of us had any idea of all that our friendship would become over time.
Over the days I've been paying close attention to my plants and greenery around the house. I planted several variations of herbs at the end of January and am noticing most things growing significantly over this time. I'm hopeful they continue to grow and blossom into all they can become.
The past few days have been more mellow..the beginning of the week was absolutely crazy hectic. I find myself very motivated in my new-found spare time to sew and create. With my new spring dress quickly finished I feel very motivated to move into new fabrics and continue to create things I feel represent me in all the right ways. I've also found myself inspired to work with even more natural elements and colors. I'm feeling more committed and serious about my relationship with nature than ever and I'm excited for another year of opportunity to showcase that.
This past week I found myself modelling at CATO many times. Coming towards the end of my time here in BC, it's been so nice to spend a bit of the time working with these up and coming students. It's nice to come to recognize and understand the students as individuals. Observing and being part of the work of a new crop of artists is really gratifying for me. Today's photos are credit to one very creative student at OC ( Accelerate Okanagan Campus). I can't remember the time interval of these poses, so sorry.
