Good morning!,
This morning's write up is short and sweet as my list for the day is looking a little bigger than the other days.
August has been a month of observation as I've been doing lots of heavy reflecting and learning about things that once appeared very familiar to me. As I changed my perspective and re-evaluated, I've been refreshed and awakened, looking at old things in new ways.
This year and 2018 time here in Calgary has taught me how important and meaningful true connection is to me. As I learn and grow as an individual, and yes, work when necessary as well, I am always striving to connect. As time passes and I reflect on the time, I realize you don't need to be an "artist" to know how to connect with others. In the past I've often used art as my connecting point. I feel I have woken to a new phase where I realize it is not art alone that causes connection. On the contrary, false intentions in the art world can have the opposing effect; disconnect. It's all very fascinating and it drives me back to "intention".
As time continues, it is my hope that I may continue to connect and understand truly passionate people. May they be artists, professionals, entrepreneurs, whatever. I think it is truly special for one to have a real passion inside them, that is organic and free flowing from within. I think it's important to always remember that other peoples happiness is not our own, therefore what makes others happy may not be the same sources of our happiness. To me this means that it is up to each individual to determine and understand what brings them happiness, passion and balance. I feel so grateful to be able to sit back and just observe. In a sense, I feel recharged. I feel refocused and reentered on what matters and means something to me. I feel refreshed in the idea that that has significance and meaning.
I can't speak of all that is coming, it is not clear, but the feelings are good. I feel a good foundation has been laid which has left me feeling extremely optimistic and absolutely open. Open to new ideas and opportunities and chances to connect with passionate people. It feels good to make room for new things. It feels good to open new doors.
Here's a classic black and white image I am fond of from one of my most recent sets with Vic Kirby. He is so passionate about photographer. What an honor it has been to work with him. This dress is one of my summer designs.
