I find the sun to be motivating in ways that could well be beyond my comprehension.
It has been wonderful time to design. I am so grateful to be approached several individuals with visions & ideas they'd like made for the wearing. I've had a very fluid week of requests & sewing.
The beautiful weather has also been wonderful for the garden. Things are growing nicely after a rough start. For a few weeks there, it was hard to know which was things were going for the outside plants. Compared to last year, I am really happy with the garden. The slope I dug out of the lawn was very fresh last year. I think the slope really needed the turn of the seasons to weather & soften. It's seems much better for the plants this year, they've grown much bigger than last year by this time last season.
Oh how the hours fly by when I slip outside. I grew up weeding & now that we have our own backyard I've had a chance to get back in touch with that habit. I love weeding. Since the slope has weathered so nicely I plan to weed it out & then do a bit of cultivating to give it a bit more of "zen garden" feel. I find myself feeling a bit complacent about it's look right now. I think I can do better. I'd like to try.
We rushed to take our summer shade down a few weeks ago when the winds were so strong I thought it might blow them away. I've been without shade the past few sunny days so I took it upon myself to set it back up. More hands definitely make that job easier, but with persistence & Penny wagging her tail in encouragement I got it done. It's so nice to have that area on these extra warm days. It feels inescapably warm without it.
This afternoon I am excited to have a lovely local model coming over to try a design I've been working on, custom for her, upon request. I've had a wonderful time working on this piece for her & I am so excited to see how it fits!
In the meantime I need to finish making sure the outside plants have gotten enough to drink today (a job I am 2/3 of the way done.) And then I'll make sure the plants inside are not thirsty.
Do you like houseplants? Here at our house, we love them!
Here are some photos of the plants that live inside with us:)
