Running

The title I chose for today's post is metaphorical. The feeling is internal.

With the sun I felt the burst in opportunity that so frequently comes with the spring & summer.

Too quickly, this year, have I felt that feeling fade.

I am not alone in my hopes that summer, or at least fall will comes for us, but it seems undeniable that the cooler days create a strong shift in productivity. Not just personally. I have spent the past year observing the pace of the city & I have observed that there is a significant decrease in work & productivity city-wide.

My observations have shown me that the kijiji pages fill with requests of aid. I have also seen an increase in single mothers seeking support as they seek resources for themselves & their children & transition to a new life during the coldest months of the year.

I have found a sort of niche in buying & selling that has helped me over the year during times of less momentum. Through this niche I've made a habit of checking the community free listings every now & again. What people list on the free never ceases to amaze me... From things, to life stories & situations, I've found that kijiji has plenty to teach me about Calgary. I am grateful for the resource. It is popular in BC also, so I was able to get familiar with the way it worked & using the site frequently whilst living there.

I went to bed with the intention of rising & going out for a coffee to start the day & rose feeling motivated to do just that. I arrived at starbucks about an hour ago to commence my blogging & online searches for the day but have been slowed by the process of constantly having to rub my hands together to prevent my bare fingers from going numb. It feels as though my bodies circulation & blood flow is not improving over time.

Two days ago I modeled for a wonderful figure session not far from where I live. It was a 3 hour continuous pose session. All felt well & good but when I drove home I realized the tips of my fingers & toes had gone completely numb and my body felt overwhelmed with chills. I ran a bath with the tap on "hot" & finally my fingers & toes began to warm. These feelings are oh so familiar to me during the winter season. A bit unexpected however, in the middle of July.

I admit it is an odd sensation to experience outside of it's normal season. A strange taste of the very real tole the weather has on my body & being.

Yes it's true, I've been chatting here a lot about all the updates I need to do in regards to the 2019 portfolio page but have yet to actually do much to update at this point. The slightly warmer weather has given me the opportunity to get out a bit more & focus on making some meaningful local connections. I've felt the importance of this & have really been working to get out and make the connections necessary. I figure I will still have time to do my updates in between & when it works.

For now, here are some recent photos taken by Tyler Hamende during a recent project. It is so wonderful to be able to work in his naturally lit studio space, espcially during the rainy days.
