October

October has proceeded at full speed.

An increase of snow and negative temperatures have inspired me to turn up the cozy at home where ever possible.

I pull extra blankets from their stowed spaces & turn the heat up to combat the temperatures that seem to be continuously dropping.

I find myself reheating my coffee more frequently between sips as room temperature is much lower than usual.

Over the past few months I've been researching an ongoing "sensation" I've been dealing with where the feeling in my big toes on each foot has been restricted. It's a strange and unfamiliar feeling, even though its been ongoing for what feels like a few months now. I wonder if it could be related to the shoes I've been wearing for the majority of the work day. I had originally switched to a different shoe with a 3 inch wedge as my feet were aching in pain after an 8-10 hour day. I no longer have the issue with aching but I wonder if the slope of the shoe ads to the lack of blood flow to my big toes. It's an ongoing mystery for the time being.

Yesterday brought the winter seasons second dumping here in Calgary. It snowed all day long without stop until at least 7pm. The cold temperatures turned the light, airy snow into thick, compact icy areas.

I moved at a slower pace in the car, and on my feet outside, well aware that 1 slip in the weather on this ice can be a life changing experience.

It's been nice to feel a bit more prepared this year coming into the winter season. I made big efforts to make sure my winter tires would be safe and appropriate for the season, and also that I would have some winter gear to combat the cold.

I started thrifting earlier in the season than normal with hopes of finding some prime deals on things that would bring me through the winter season. My work ethic paid off and I found a very warm and practical jacket and boots for walking the dog & spending time outside. It's been wonderful to not have to worry about collecting these items still. Being prepared is a great way to ease worry.

I hope to share more words this month than usual, and surpass my 4 blog goal if possible.

It feels good to write and reflect on life's recent happens and how those things have impacted me emotionally.

Below are some photos of the first two weeks of this years October.
