Coffee

I woke before the sun this morning.

It's less routine for me than it used to be.

Back in my barista days, each day I was up before the sun, getting the coffee pots ready and the espresso filled for all the coffee drinkers who would be coming in straight away.

I enjoyed being a barista very much.

I loved the social aspect of the job. It was a great way to meet people and make new friends.

I remember the clientele being very kind.

I greeted them each with a smile and good morning each day as they would come in for their caffeine of preference.

Oh how the dynamic has changed so dramatically in such a comparatively short amount of time.

Oh how different it must be to show up for your morning coffee, which you drink with your face, with your face covered.

The whole discriminative process has soured the taste of going out for coffee publicly fairly hard for me as of late.

I'd rather save the money and serve myself.

I've years of experience serving others and I believe deeply submerging myself into my work has allowed me to gather great insight from the experience.

This morning, although it was chilly outside, that house was nice and warm, so I made a frothy iced coffee.

Iced coffee always seems to wake me up and get me into the zone.

I've always liked my homemade varieties.

I don't mind the few extra minutes required to make it.

These days I'd spend at least that much time in line waiting for it... Seems a shame to spend the time that way when I'd have a fancy homemade variety finished just as quickly, if not faster.

Oh yes, more price efficiently too.

It's a nice realization to come to.

Small changes such as this tend to go a long ways.

Fall persists on with a strong force.

This time of year captivates me so deeply in so many ways.

The profound changes in nature each day fill me with a sense of wonder that brings new inspirations and ideas to light each day. I'm reflecting on the idea of recording them as they come to mind, as I have a new notebook that would record them in a really clear and organized fashion.
